By downloading, installing, or using the Propound mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the app.

If you are under 18 years of age, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf, or that your use is permitted under applicable law.

Description of the App

Propound is a mobile application that delivers a new word each day along with its definition, pronunciation guide, example usage, and etymology. The purpose of the app is educational — to help users of all ages expand their vocabulary.

Eligibility

Propound is available to users of all ages. Users under the age of 13 should have parental or guardian consent before using the app. We encourage parents and guardians to engage with the app alongside younger users.

Permitted Use

You may use Propound for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes. You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
  • Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from app content without permission
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the functioning of the app

Intellectual Property

All content within Propound — including word selections, definitions, examples, design elements, and the Propound name and logo — is the intellectual property of Propound and its licensors. All rights are reserved.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal and educational purposes only.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Propound is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of inaccuracies. Word definitions and usage examples are provided for educational purposes and should not be considered authoritative for professional, legal, or academic submissions.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Propound and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

Modifications to the App or Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the app, or update these Terms of Service, at any time. Updated terms will be posted within the app with a revised effective date. Continued use of Propound after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which Propound operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of Propound shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), conducted in English.

Nothing in this section limits either party’s right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to protect intellectual property rights or confidential information.

To the extent permitted by law, you waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Propound.
